Sophrology

Sophrology was created in 1960 by a neuropsychiatrist, Alfonso Caycedo. He spent many years traveling the world, exploring eastern and western methods, from different kind of yoga and meditation to mindfulness, visualization and relaxation techniques and then he developed the method which is known today as Sophrology which means “the science of CONSCIOUSNESS in HARMONY”.

Sophrology is very well know in France, Spain, Switzerland and more and more in UK. The main purpose is, while really staying connected with the real life, to learn how to calm the mind in stressful situations, train the brain to more Positivity and open the 5 senses.

HOW it works ?
Doing Breathing exercises, Positive Visualisations and some smooth body movement, you:

  • become more aware of your body sensations : Allow to do the right movement and avoid tensions + notice any small pain before it goes worse
  • be conscious of your Emotions because “Emotions are good guide but bad masters” so don’t let them take the lead on your decisions
  • Know how to use the power of your Breath to calm yourself or refocus
  • become conscious of your automatic thoughts, learning to reduce jugement and reinforcing more positive thoughts and feelings
  • open your 5 senses will allow you to better enjoy everyday life
  • reconnect with your values, finding your true path giving you joy and peace.

Sophrology is practiced most of the time sitting, but it can be practiced standing up or lying. Above all, it’s a very practical technique designed to be practiced everywhere by everybody.

Course of a session:

  1. Exchanges on your present state and your request
  2. Guided Sophrology exercises adapted to your request (sitting or standing up)
  3. Exchange on your experience and feelings during the session
  4. Advice and recommendations for exercises to do independently to make them your own

Why choose Sophrology?

  • Sleep disorder
  • Stress Management and Stage fright

  • Preparation for Childbirth
  • PeriMenopause disorder
  • Premenstrual syndrome

For me, Sophrology is the first nice step towards Meditation, leading to more self-consciousness. Because it’s not so easy to start practicing meditation, even if the benefits are well-known.
